Stitch
has quickly become an after work oasis
for midtown's workers and growing number
of residents. An ideal event location
and after dark local. This brand new
bi-level 5,000sq ft venue has 19th Century
tall ceilings with original moldings,
a mezzanine bar & private party room,
kitchen facilities, excellent AV for
Garden Events including 4 Plasma & 1
Large Projection Video screens, real
world drink prices and of course a hot
music selection, on line jukebox (sans
hip- hop), perfect for the starved fashion
district scene desperate for a local
to call their own.
The
Scene
Grabbing a drink with co-workers in midtown
usually means sipping a Bud in a humdrum
Irish pub, but Stitch is here to change that.
A lively alt-rock soundtrack--think U2 and
Franz Ferdinand--heals the working-day blues
in the main space. A menu of appetizers,
pizzas and sandwiches relieves after-work
munchies in the less chaotic mezzanine. The
martini glasses are on the small side, but
remarkably polite servers can whip up a well-mixed
cosmo or a mean (though miniature) Manhattan.
The Draw
Located in stumbling distance
from both Penn Station and the
Port Authority, the crowd is commuter
heavy--a friendly, backpack-toting,
business-casual bunch. Sports fans
enjoy the flat-screened TVs, but
the gigantic monitors don't overpower
the warehouse-like space. Deep-burgundy
walls, a dark-wood bar, tall mirrors
and copious candlelight add a little
after-hours glamour to this office-laden
part of town.
