Looking for the ultimate fiesta? No doubt, you’ll find it in San Antonio, whether you want to experience the city’s annual Fiesta spring festival in April or pick a less crowded time of year to party through this historical, multi-cultural travel destination. Take a boat ride through the city via The River Walk, exploring the colorful waterfront shops, restaurants and bars that line the San Antonio River in Venice-like fashion.
Then set your sights on visiting the famous Alamo just minutes by foot from the river. Next, you can cool off at the pub in the historic Menger Hotel or shop ‘til you drop downtown before venturing to another popular area of the city. In San Antonio, there’s something special for everyone — from a little Zen at the exotic Japanese Tea Gardens to an encounter with the wild at San Antonio Zoo, upscale shopping at La Cantara, a lesson on South Texas culture at the Witte Museum, and the unforgettable thrills at Six Flags Fiesta Texas. When the sun gets a little too hot, slip stylishly into happy hour, sipping some bubbly at Zinc Champagne & Wine Bar before shakin’ it out Alcapulco Sam’s. |

Fun, yet touristy, The River Walk in San Antonio has an impressive network of venues, offering tons of entertainment and party places — but the bars tend to close at 2 a.m. Surprisingly, hip restaurants regularly host breakthrough bands, open-mic nights, DJs and dancing, while North St. Mary's, between Josephine and Magnolia Streets, is where the hard-core clubbers congregate. |

It’s Texas, so of course San Antonio feels like a baking oven in the summer. But during the rest of the year, the climate is actually very pleasant and its location along a sometimes breezy river creates an unexpected, somewhat tropical, lush climate that, if you close your eyes, can almost transport you to the Bahamas. Every year, about 7 million visitors travel to San Antonio, and we think the best time to go is in the off-seasons: late spring, early summer and fall. From late March to mid-June, and from mid-September through mid-November, days are usually warm but not too hot and evenings are delightfully pleasant.
Also in these “off seasons,” San Antonio boasts an impressive number of festivals, celebrating holidays, special foods, ethnic traditions, seasons and more. Fiesta, a weeklong party for “Spring,” is perhaps the most representative of all that San Antonio has to offer, featuring days and days of celebratory fun, from the sunset boat parade to a massive oyster bake at St. Mary’s, countless special events and family-friendly activities, Hispanic performances, ethnic music, and exclusive travel and hotel packages to get you there! |
